“My goal in the practice of medicine is to treat every patient as I would wish and expect to be treated, but above all to glorify God by exercising the utmost integrity in my dealings with the patients, personnel and all others He sends my way.” Don Hirsbrunner, MD
Dr. Don Hirsbrunner was born and reared in Columbia, Tennessee. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he attended Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where he received his doctorate in medicine. While there he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed his internship and Orthopaedic residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.
He was then in private practice in Orlando for approximately 5 years before moving to Cullman, Alabama, in 1989. He received his board certification in 1991 and recertification and 2001. In 1992 he was made a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Since his arrival in Cullman he has been involved in the practice of General Orthopaedic Surgery or the treatment of bone and joint disorders.
Most of his efforts at this time involve arthroscopy whereby problems caused by “wear and tear,” accidents (automobile, sports, etc.) and developmental abnormalities are treated. He also has a significant interest in adult reconstructive surgery, especially joint replacement. In addition, he has been successful in returning persons with intervertebral disc abnormalities back to normal activity. As is the case with all practitioners, he makes every effort to stay abreast of developments in these areas of medicine by attending educational meetings, reviewing journals, etc.
He and his wife Holly have 2 children. His other primary interest is music: he has been the organist at First Baptist Church for about 13 years.
